The app asks our servers for the blank forms and field help it needs, and sends nothing back. There's nothing on our servers to breach or subpoena, because we never receive any of it.

No. You are the certifying provider and every value on the form is one you confirmed. Where PatientPapers reads a note you paste, it proposes values and shows each with the words it came from; nothing reaches the form until you confirm it. The certification language itself is deterministic — the software composes it from your confirmed answers and asserts nothing clinical of its own.

The DOL FMLA certifications WH-380-E (employee's own serious health condition) and WH-380-F (family member's) are the core — the genuine federal forms, not re-drawn look-alikes. Alongside them it completes the carrier and TPA versions of the same certification, state disabled-parking placard certifications, the federal workers' comp CA-17 and CA-20, attending-physician statements for disability claims, and a set of letters it composes on your letterhead. Those categories are the whole of it, and the full list of forms names every one.

You can ask a chatbot to draft one — what it returns is prose rather than a completed PDF, and the patient story sits in a consumer chat account you do not control. It puts your confirmed values on the genuine DOL form — not a look-alike — and we check the official source monthly so the blank you are using is the current one. We can't promise any recipient will accept any form; nobody can.

Planned — not in the app yet. The app is being built so that your wifi can drop mid-certification and nothing happens: once you have opened a form, answering it, signing it and printing it keep working with or without a connection. Three limits ride with that, and we won't gloss them. A form you have never opened needs one connection before it can be used. Your licence needs one online click per billing period. And if the computer clears its browsing data — many hospital machines do that at every logout — the app needs one connection to get going again.

An employer may require its own form instead of the DOL one — that's permitted under 29 C.F.R. § 825.306(b). PatientPapers completes the carrier and TPA certifications employers most often send in place of the DOL form, as well as the DOL originals. What it cannot do is complete a form that is not in its catalogue: if the one your patient was handed isn't there, it isn't supported.

That depends on how many you sign — but FMLA is not all of it. The catalogue also covers disabled-parking placard certifications, federal workers' comp, disability-claim statements and the letters patients ask for, so the question is how much of that crosses your desk rather than how much FMLA does. The free trial is three signed forms with no clock, which is enough to find out.

Your signed forms have already gone into the patient's chart — that is the record, and cancelling does not touch it. The app also keeps a reusable copy of what you answered, which is what makes next year's renewal a one-tap clone, and you can export that copy at any time. It sits in your browser's own storage, so clearing the browser or losing the machine takes it; the export is how you keep it. We never held a copy of any of it, so there is nothing on our side to lock you out of.

There is no separate staff login or delegate role — PatientPapers has one user per device, and only the certifying provider signs. Anyone working on the provider's device is working as the provider, which is the practice's own arrangement to make and to supervise.
